  ARYSTA LIFESCIENCE ANNOUNCES THE MOVE

OF ITS NORTH AMERICA OPERATIONS TO

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK AREA IN NORTH CAROLINA

July 27, 2005 – SAN FRANCISCO – Arysta LifeScience North America today announced the decision to move its headquarters to the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area in North Carolina.

“As an organization, it makes more sense – financially and geographically - for us to be located in the Triangle area,” says Elin Miller, president and CEO Arysta Life Science North America. “We have an extraordinary team that has helped build the business and deliver a good track record of providing products and services to customers in the specialty crops and cereals markets.”

The North America business grew approximately 30 percent in 2004 and is known for products including EVEREST® herbicide in the U.S. and Canada that doubled its market share to nearly 10 percent in cereals; clethodim, which continues to show strong growth in Canada under the trade names SELECT® and CENTURION; ARENA®, an insecticide that is registered for turf and ornamental in the U.S.; CAPTAN® broad spectrum fungicide; ELEVATE® fungicide used primarily in grapes and strawberries; and more recently, KANEMITE® acaricide.

Another strong brand in the company’s portfolio is CLUTCH® insecticide in Mexico. Overall sales in Mexico grew nearly 60 percent in 2004 compared with Mexican crop protection market growth of nine percent. The company is also optimistic about pending registration of MIDAS® soil fumigant and BATTALION® insecticide in the near future.

The existing North American headquarters will be open until February 28, 2006, although the company will begin to recruit immediately in the North Carolina area. Current employees have been asked to remain through the transition and have been offered a generous severance, a retention bonus, outplacement services and other benefits.

The company recently changed its name to Arysta LifeScience North America from Arvesta Corporation. The change brought all regions under the Arysta LifeScience name and identity to reflect the strong and unified presence of its global business.

“Locating the company’s headquarters in the Research Triangle Park area will allow Arysta LifeScience to recruit and retain industry experts in the specialty crops, cereals and turf and ornamental commercial markets and have these employees better represent customer needs at the company’s headquarters,” added Miller.

North Carolina Department of Commerce Secretary Jim Fain said the move should prove beneficial to both the state and the company. “North Carolina will benefit from the creation of 65 well paying jobs and an important headquarters location,” he said, “and Arysta LifeScience will be able to benefit from the strengths of RTP’s substantial crop protection and life science cluster and from cutting-edge research being done by scientists at area universities.”

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Arysta LifeScience is the world’s largest privately-held crop protection and life science company with 2004 revenues of ¥103.2 billion ( US$1 billion). An entrepreneurial provider of crop protection and life science products in more than 100 countries worldwide, Arysta LifeScience specializes in the marketing and distribution of respected crop protection brands and life science products in harmony with the needs of global producers.
